Sunscreen remains important because dryness does not protect the skin from UV exposure. Fragrance-free formulas may be preferable when dryness is accompanied by sensitivity.

Environmental conditions also affect the routine. Heating, air conditioning, wind, and long flights can increase tightness and flaking. Add products gradually and pay attention to persistent itching, cracking, or inflammation.
